Description:

Mae Chaem is a Highland Thai Landrace accession known for its distinctive mango aroma and potency. Sometimes referred to as "Mamuang" (Mango) or "Mamuang Pa" (Forest/Wild Mango), this district is celebrated for producing high quality ganja with a sweet tropical mango scent and energetic, euphoric high.

The plants grow tall and elegant, reaching heights of 2-4 metres with long, airy colas and a narrow-leafed sativa structure.

The terpene profile is dominated by bright, sweet mango with subtle earthy undertones and top notes of menthol, creating a complex aromatic experience very much like actual , ripe mango..

Despite its airy structure, the buds are densely covered in sticky resin, ideal for traditional Thai-style ganja, compression curing or extraction.

The psychoactive effects are clear-headed and energetic, delivering a cerebral high, euphoric and uplifting that lasts forever.

Context:

Mae Chaem is nestled in the Thongchai Range of Chiang Mai, a remote highland region known for its rich agricultural heritage and traditional way of life. The area is inhabited by Thai, Karen and Hmong communities, who have been cultivating cannabis for culinary, medicinal, spiritual, and recreational purposes for centuries. The region’s high altitude (800-1500m) and cool mountain climate create the ideal conditions for cultivating highland cannabis landraces.

Cannabis from Mae Chaem was historically known as "Thai Mango" due to its distinctive fruity aroma. The energetic, psychedelic effects made it a favorite among the counterculture in Thailand, cementing its reputation as one of the most sought-after Thai landraces.

To be clear -several other areas similarly claim to be the original and best ‘Thai Mango’ - ultimately the spectrum of green to red mango related aromas are well represented throughout tropical Asia with several landrace accessions, IBLs, hybrids referring to Mango in their name.

Recent political changes and economic pressures have threatened traditional landrace cultivation. The introduction of modern hybrids and industrial agriculture has led to a severe genetic bottleneck, pushing the landrace population in Mae Chaem
