Description:

The Kumaoni landrace is one of the oldest and most resilient charas-producing cannabis varieties in the Western Himalayas. Cultivated for centuries across the remote valleys of Uttarakhand, these plants exhibit extreme adaptability to high-altitude conditions, thriving in elevations ranging from 1500m to over 3000m.

---

Context:

The Kumaon region has a deep cultural and historical connection to cannabis cultivation, with generations of local farmers and shepherd communities integrating it into their agricultural and spiritual traditions.

Unlike more commercialized charas-producing areas such as Parvati or Malana, Kumaoni cannabis has remained largely untouched by modern breeding influences, preserving ancestral traits that have adapted to the harsh Himalayan climate over centuries.
