Description:

A name that has drifted through Kampot’s underground cannabis scene for years, Bokor Poison is rumored to be a cross between Durban Poison and the local Bokor landrace. Its origins remain uncertain, and its actual existence as a stabilized hybrid is debated—some say it was merely a well-grown backyard selection rather than a true breeding project.

With no confirmed specimens left to study, this project aims to recreate Bokor Poison from its supposed genetic origins. The result will be a hybrid of South African and Cambodian landraces, combining the legendary sharp, electric effects of Durban with the humid-climate resilience and complex aromatic profile of Bokor’s native plants.

Context:

The legend of Bokor Poison has circulated since at least the mid-2010s, captivating curiosity among Kampot’s stoner community. Its name was spoken in hushed tones, fueling speculation about a high-energy, clear-headed hybrid that supposedly blended the best of both continents. Yet, despite repeated searches through the Cardamom Mountain slopes, no clear evidence of a stabilized hybrid ever surfaced.

Years of hunting led to the identity of its supposed creator, but attempts to track it down ended with the realization that Bokor Poison may have never been a true-breeding strain—perhaps just a handful of plants grown from an experimental cross.

Undeterred by the dead end, we’re taking matters into our own hands. Starting in early 2025, we will undertake our own Bokor Poison project, using seedstock from a confirmed Bokor landrace population along with KwaZulu-Natal landrace stock from South Africa as a stand-in for the hybrid Durban Poison.

The first stage will involve a breeding pair hunt, alongside a controlled seed increase to ensure strong parent stock.

We have seed stock from the local landrace genepool from around Bokor/Takeo/Kirivong and we also have *limited* seed stock from South Africa in the form of KwaZulu-Natal landrace.

Starting in  early 2025 we will begin the hunt for a breeding pair while simultaneously doing an increase on both batches of seed. The results of this effort will be available exclusively on Patreon.
